Papua New Guinea's Police Commissioner, Geoffrey Vaki, has failed in his bid to have a contempt of court case against him thrown out.
The case relates to allegations that Mr Vaki conspired to prevent an arrest warrant from being issued against Prime Minister O'Neill in June.
Chief Inspector Timothy Gitua and Chief Superintendent Mathew Damaru of the police fraud squad said Mr Vaki's actions in challenging the validity of the warrant in various courts was tantamount to being in contempt of court.
The Post Courier reports Mr Vaki's submission to have the case thrown out was dismissed by Sir Salamo Injia, who said the outstanding issues raised in both parties' submissions must be properly dealt with by a court trial.
Sir Salamo set a trial date of February 23rd to 25th.
