A 13-year-old schoolboy and a husband and wife are among 13 people in Papua New Guinea who have been arrested over the armed robbery of Nadzab Airport in Lae two weeks ago.

The Post Courier reports the suspects, all under the age of 21, have been charged with illegal possession of firearms and more charges are likely.

The Morobe Provincial Police Commander, Kaiglo Amabane, says the suspects were all living at the same location at West Taraka when they were arrested in a raid on Monday.

The group stormed Lae's main airport two weeks ago, keeping passengers captive for hours and ransacking offices.

Police initially said they were searching for about 30 suspects.
