Fiji's ministry of education has dumped the vice chancellor of Fiji National University, Dr Ganesh Chand.
The minister, Dr Mahendra Reddy, says Dr Chand's term has been cut short but he says the parting of the ways has been amicable.
He says the university wants to seek a re-direction and consolidation of its strategic focus under a new vice chancellor.
The dean of the college of medicine, nursing and health science, professor Ian Rouse, is to be acting vice chancellor.
