Marshall Islands killer sentenced to 10 years' jail

A man who has admitted stabbing a man to death in the Marshall Islands has been sentenced to 10 years' jail.

Tareti Reiher has pleaded guilty to killing Phillip Kilma on December the 6th in Majuro.

Reiher has been sentenced to serve 10 years in Majuro jail as part of a 20-year plea bargain deal with the Attorney General's office.

At the plea hearing, it's understood Reiher apologized to Mr Kilma's family and the family raised no objections to the plea agreement.

Reiher will be in jail until 2024, with an additional 10 years of probation to follow.

The police say Mr Kilma was stabbed and slashed multiple times with a seven-inch knife blade.
