A Solomon Islands student has survived an armed attack in the Philippines.
The Islands Sun Newspaper says Kylie Ting'ia, from Rennel and Bellona province, was returning from a library in Manila on Tuesday when a group of men accosted them and demanded money.
When she resisted, she was shot twice.
Ms Tingi'ia is recovering in hospital in Manila, while the MP for Rennel and Bellona, Tautai Katitu'u, says the foreign affairs ministry is involved.
