A former executive of Fiji TV, Tanya Waqanika, says she was sacked after orders were given by the Attorney General, Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum, to the Fiji TV Director, Nouzab Fareed.

Ms Waqanika has filed a complaint against Mr Sayed Khaiyum with the Legal Practitioners Unit and the police.

She says Mr Fareed told her the AG ordered the sackings, and leaked emails from Mr Fareed support her case, however Mr Fareed denies the claims.

The Chairman of Fiji TV, Ioane Naiveli, says the Government, who is the regulator of licences, can do what it likes, and Mr Fareed's actions were in the best interests of the company.

"I think what he's doing is good for the organisation. Whether he's doing for himself or for what, but to me, if he is doing it for the good of the organisation, then I would accept that, because at the end of the day it's the organisation that needs to survive, not our individual interests."

Ioane Naiveli says the sacking was in accordance with the contract.
