New public safety commissioner for American Samoa

Save Liuato Tuitele has been cleared to serve as the territory's next Commissioner of Public Safety.

Save who was appointed by governor Lolo to be acting commissioner after William Haleck resigned from the post has been confirmed by the House of Representatives by unanimous vote 15-0.

The Senate approved his nomination last week.

Save was a candidate for governor in the 2012 elections and was later picked by Governor Lolo to head a new Office of Fraud Prevention and Investigation.

He retired from the US Army as a criminal investigator Chief Warrant officer five after 30 years in the military, served as an associate judge and a consultant to the Department of Public Safety.
