A plan in Vanuatu to build an foreign embassy in Suva and apartments for its university students in Fiji has been cancelled.
Last year the Vanuatu National Provident Fund signed an agreement with a Fiji developer, Mike Li, to carry out the project on behalf of the Fund.
But the Fund Chairman, Simil Johnson, says the board has cancelled the plans after learning about land law changes in Fiji.
In Fiji's urban areas, it's impossible for foreigners to own land.
