Guam and CNMI prepare for storm

Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands are preparing for a tropical storm expected to arrive by Monday morning.

Tropical Storm Bavi is tracking west-northwest and is expected to track closer to Rota and slightly north of Guam overnight Sunday.

Stars & Stripes reports that Guam, Rota, Tinian and Saipan remain under tropical storm warning, according to Guam Homeland Security and Joint Region Marianas.

Forecasters recently cancelled a typhoon watch for the area.

However the Pacific Dauily News reports that Guam was preparing buses to take residents lacking transportation to shelters to prepare for the storm.

United Airlines cancelled all afternoon flights from Guam due to the tropical storm.

Cape Air/United Express cancelled flights scheduled to arrive and depart from Guam Sunday and Monday morning.
