Former students face assault charges in Samoa

Five former students of St Joseph College in Samoa are facing assault charges after a video clip of them assaulting another student inside the school toilet was circulated on social media.

The incident happened in school last month and Police Superintendent Lemalu Su'a Muliaga Tiumalu confirmed the charges today.

The five students, all seniors at the college, were expelled from the school after the video clip was circulated on you tube.

The incident has been condemned by members of the public and the school and Catholic Education acted swiftly and expelled the students involved.

The five students later knelt before a priest inside the Mulivai Cathedral asking for forgiveness.

The Director of the Catholic School, Aeau Chris Hazelman, told local Talamua Online that the church does not tolerate bullying in schools and the decision to expel the students is supported by the church.
