Former lawmaker arrested for road rage on Saipan

A former Northern Mariana lawmaker Juan Iguel Tenorio has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a male teenage driver last week.

The 65-year-old, who is a former president of the CNMI Republican Party, was arrested for assault and battery, and disturbing the peace, which carry a total maximum sentence of one year and six months in prison.

He also allegedly tried to attack the driver's female companion and attempted to punch a local witness who tried to stop him.

The incident is reported to have happened after a car chase involving Mr Tenorio.
