Sport: Pacific Oceania take on big guns in Junior Fed Cup

12:10 pm on 8 April 2015

The Pacific Oceania tennis team plan to keep the same tactics in the final round of Junior Fed Cup qualifying in Shepparton, Victoria.

The team of Mulan Kamoe from Fiji, Tammy Ackerman from the Northern Mariana Islands and Ayana Rengiil from Palau won a pre-qualifying event in Malaysia last month to advance to this week's event, which involves the top 16 teams in Asia/Oceania.

Pacific Oceania has been drawn in Pool B and face the Philippines first-up on Wednesday, before taking on Thailand and China.

Team Captain Andrew Mailtorok says they want to play the same way they did in Malaysia and try and keep the ball in play and force mistakes from their opponents.

He says they will try and finish as high as possible but believe a mid-table finish is a realistic goal.

The top four teams in both the Junior Fed and Davis Cup events will advance to the world finals in Madrid in late September.
