Sport: Pacific Oceania beat Philippines in Junior Fed Cup

Pacific Oceania grabbed their first win at the Junior Fed Cup tennis qualifiers in Australia, beating the Philippines 2-1.

The Pacific Oceania Junior Fed Cup team: captain Andrew Mailtorok, Mulan Kamoe from Fiji, Ayana Rengiil from Palau and Tammy Ackerman from the Northern Mariana Islands.

The tie was all square after the singles matches, with Tammy Ackerman from the Northern Marianas winning 6-1 6-4 and Fiji's Mulan Kamoe beaten 7-6 6-4.

But the pair combined to win the deciding doubles encounter 6-3 6-1, sealing the tie.

Pacific Oceania play Group B leaders Thailand in their final round robin tie and must win to keep alive their chances of qualifying for the quarter finals.
