The PNG Hunters contribute the bulk of the team, with 18 players, while another four come from some of their Queensland Cup rivals.

Meanwhile seven players have been selected from NRL clubs, including Canberra Raiders front rowers Kurt Baptiste and Luke Page, and Penrith brothers Wellington and Stanton Albert.

The squad will be reduced to 18 later this month before the Kumuls play Fiji on the Gold Coast, as part of the Pacific Test double header.

The winners of the PNG v Fiji and Samoa v Tonga tests will playoff in October for a berth in the Four Nations.
