Sport: Cricket PNG forced to shuffle national squads

10:48 am on 29 April 2015

Cricket PNG has been forced to spread its talent pool for the upcoming Pacific Games and World T20 Qualifiers.

Jack Vare will captain the Barramundi's in July's T20 qualifiers in Ireland, where teams will vie for a berth at the 2016 World Cup in India.

He replaces Chris Amini, who will lead the PNG 'A' team in the defence of their Pacific Games gold medal at the same time.

For the first time, women's cricket will also feature at this year's Pacific Games in Port Moresby, with the PNG Lewas the number one ranked team in East Asia Pacific.
