The Solomon Islands government is beginning public consultations on the establishment of free economic zones to foster investment.

The government has said it wants to attract high quality investment by offering tax incentives through its economic zones.

It says the consultations, which will happen around the country, will form the basis for legislation to go to parliament later this year.
