Authorities in French Polynesia will launch two inquiries from tomorrow into the outbreak of the mosquito-borne disease chikungunya, which affected tens of thousands of people from last October until March.
The first probe will involve going to visit people who contracted the disease, in part to see how many people have been hit by the outbreak.
Their names have been randomly picked.
A second inquiry will be conducted by telephone to find out how often confirmed sufferers have had recurring or chronic symptoms.
An estimated 130,000 people contracted the disease and at least 14 people died.
