Sport: Samoa's Rey Lee-Lo to benefit from All Black absence

11:16 am on 19 May 2015

Manu Samoa midfielder Rey Lee-Lo is set to benefit from the absence of Hurricanes veterans Conrad Smith and Ma'a Nonu.

The Super Rugby leaders are required to rest the All Blacks duo for one more match this season and head coach Chris Boyd says Lee-Lo, will provide able cover over the coming weeks.

Smith passed a concussion test on Sunday after failing one during the Hurricanes' win over the Chiefs but Boyd says his captain will still sit-out this weekend's clash with the Blues.

"We will drop Rey Lee-Lo into that space this week for Conrad and in the next two or three weeks for Ma'a [Nonu]. I haven't seen somebody that's played consistently as well as [Nonu] in Super Rugby this year so we're delighted he's here and playing well but, at the end of the day, we have a lot of confidence in Rey Lee-Lo as well".
