Sport: Fiji netballers welcome tough World Cup build-up

Fiji Netball President Wainikiti Bogidrau says the July test against the Silver Ferns is another step in their efforts to be as prepared as possible for the World Cup.

The Pearls have already played New Zealand twice this year, as part of January's Oceania Series in Suva, and will take on the Ferns in Porirua two weeks before the World Cup begins in Sydney.

It adds to a jam-packed schedule this year that featured matches against New Zealand and Australian ANZ Championship teams, a home series against Papua New Guinea and Singapore and the upcoming Pacific Games in Port Moresby.

Wainikiti Bogidrau says Fiji want to leave no stone unturned in their preparation.

"We are just grateful that we are getting quality games before the lead-up to the World Cup because at the last World Cup Fiji did not get this opportunity, or we were not exposed to quality teams that we needed, so this is a huge step up for Fiji".

Wainikiti Bogidrau says Fiji will also play some other low-key games while they're in New Zealand and in Australia prior to the World Cup.
