Samoa's power utility has made 62 workers redundant this week and it is considering plans to outsource some services.
The general manager of the Samoa Electric Power Corporation, Tologate Tile, says the company, with more than 600 employees, has too many workers.
Some of the redundancies are at the senior management left with the deputy general manager gone.
Tologate says work is being done of whether services can be outsourced and he says employees made redundant could well end up working with those companies that become involved in the outsourcing.
