Three Papua New Guinea immigration officers have been arrested and charged over last week's beating of a refugee on Manus Island.
Mohsen Sakhravi, who is at the East Lorengau transit centre for people released from Australia's detention centre, had stayed out past curfew while having dinner with a friend.
Mr Sakhravi alleged that he was found by three immigration officers who punched him in the face several times and made him run ahead of their moving vehicle.
According to his statement, they stopped him midway and assaulted him again before dropping him off at the transit centre.
Last month, Mr Sakhravi was barred from entering a court in Lorengau after he wanted to make an appointment with the Chief Justice to protest against the lengthy resettlement process.
The Post Courier reports the officers were arrested and charged on Friday and will appear at the Lorengau District Court today.
