The outgoing Under 20 national coach Frank Farina believes the future is bright for Fijian football.

The Melanesian minnows created global headlines at the Under 20 World Cup by beating Honduras in the country's first FIFA tournament.

Frank Farina believes a number of players from that team will form the future of Fijian football in the next few years.

He says some are also capable of stepping up to the Under 23 and senior teams, which will be contesting Oceania Olympic and Senior World Cup qualifiers.

"I think with the experience that these boys have had [at] the Under 20s] within the next two or three years these are the boys that are going to try and push Fiji's football further ahead. It's going to be very tough - in all of these instances they're going to be coming up against New Zealand -so hopefully they will keep improving and hopefully one day or in a few years time [they will] get to another World Cup."
