The Papua New Guinea Hunters remain in fourth place in the Queensland Cup despite extending their winning streak to seven games at the weekend.

The Hunters recovered from a halftime deficit to overwhelm Souths Logan Magpies 34-12 in front of a sold out crowd at Sir John Guise Stadium in Port Moresby.

The venue was being used for the first time in preparation for next month's Pacific Games, where it will host the opening and closing ceremonies, as well as a range of sports including athletics, rugby league and rugby sevens.

The Hunters remain two points behind overall leaders Townsville, who beat Central Queensland, and level on 22 with Wynnum-Manly and Ipswich, who both had a bye.

The annual Prime Minister's rugby league clash between Australia and Papua New Guinea will be held at Sir John Guise Stadium in Port Moresby, which also hosted the Pacific Games.
