PNG to hold trade forum in Paris

Papua New Guinea's government plans to hold a trade forum in Paris next year, on the back of interest shown by European investors in PNG.

The newspaper, The National, reports that the Prime Minister Peter O'Neill as saying discussions are underway on "improved visa arrangements for Papua New Guineans travelling to European Union countries".

This follows last week's UK-PNG Trade and Investment Forum in London, which Mr O'Neill has described as a success.

He says that next year PNG is looking at the trade and investment forum being held in Paris and to be alternated with London each year.

The French Business Confederation hosted a breakfast where 30 companies showed interest in initiating or expanding their operations in PNG.

Mr O'Neill says PNG must convert this interest into tangible business engagement, adding that Europe offers an important market particularly for his country's agricultural products.
