Sport: Vanuatu into knockout rounds at Beach Volleyball World Champs

Vanuatu's Miller Pata and Linline Matauatu are still in contention after picking up their first win at the Beach Volleyball World Championships in the Netherlands.

The Pacific pairing beat tournament newcomers Algeria in 21-4 21-10 to finish third in their pool, behind teams from Germany and Brazil.

Miller Pata says it's a great feeling to qualify for the knockout rounds.

"We're really happy to have won this game and it's exciting we got through to the next round. It's really good we played our best to win the big points like this and we got that done so we're really happy to have got big points like this".

Miller Pata says they are looking forward to regaining some energy on their day off before the next round.

The draw for the round of 32 will be made overnight.
