PNG's main airport officially opened

Papua New Guinea's expanded international airport in Port Moresby has been officially opened by the Prime Minister, Peter O'Neill.

The Post Courier reports Jackson International Airport can now process two million passengers a year.

The $US51 million upgrade includes more check-in counters and immigration facilities as well as duty-free shops and restaurants.

The Prime Minister says the next project is to upgrade Mt Hagen airport, to allow 767 planes to land with international passengers.
