Delays in completing the Marshall Islands Government's annual audit have prompted the Public Accounts Committee to postpone its annual oversight hearings until the end of July.

The Committee chair, Senator Kenneth Kedi, says with both the Government and some of its agencies late for the fourth year in a row the committee decided to halt its oversight hearings.

Mr Kedi says Deloitte, which handles the government's annual audit, is expected to visit Majuro in the third week of July and the Committee members plan to get an audit update so they can plan further hearings.

In mid-June, the Finance Ministry had requested an extension of time from the U.S. Government for its government-wide audit, which by law is due by June 30th.
