The body of Fiji's former vice-president, Ratu Jope Naucabalavu Seniloli, has been escorted to Bau island ahead of his funeral today.
The Fiji Times reports that Ratu Jope died last week at the age of 76.
A former Fiji rugby international, he was made president in 2001, but resigned in 2004 after he was convicted and jailed for for taking an illegal oath to commit a capital offence, by agreeing to be sworn in as president during the 2000 coup.
He was released after serving only three months of his four-year jail sentence, a decision the High Court later found to be biased.
Ratu Jope is survived by his wife and children.
