Pacific flavour added to Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra

A Pacific flavour will be added to the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra this weekend, with Pasifika artists set to perform alongside it.

The orchestra's chief executive, Barbara Glaser, says the event is a way of celebrating the South Auckland and Pacific community.

She says Pasifika artists including Lavina Williams and Mark Vanilau, will be joined by the Auckland Gospel Choir to perform songs with the full orchestra.

"The Pasifika community is extremely important to us, we run a number of programmes specifically for them, and we also have lots of ways to bring them into our main stage concerts in Auckland Town Hall, but this time we're coming to them."

Barbara Glaser says the Saturday concert is free which enables more people to connect with the orchestra.
