A number of Pacific countries can expect lower than normal rainfall through to September.

The water update issued by Pacific meteorological agencies says countries such as Tonga and Fiji, which have recorded rain levels well below expected levels in the past 3 months, should fare better.

Fiji is forecast to have rain at below or at normal levels and Tonga at below normal.

Other areas where less rain could fall are the northern Cook Islands, Niue and the Tuamotu Islands and Marquesas in French Polynesia.
