Tobacco control officers in the Fijian capital are conducting spot checks and booking smokers in the city in a clamp down on public smoking.

The Fiji Sun reports the Tobacco Control Unit is undertaking a three-week operation in Suva which started on Thursday.
Six people were booked for smoking around Suva Market kiosks on Thursday and have 200 Fiji dollar fines to pay.
Municipal markets in all Fiji's main centres are among no smoking zones prescribed in Fiji's Tobacco Control Decree.
