New acting police commissioner in Vanuatu

Vanuatu has a new acting police commissioner.

Vake Rakau has been sworn in by the President Lonsdale Baldwin.

He replaces Job Esau.

The country is searching for a new police commissioner after the former commissioner, Arthur Caulton, was dismissed.

The country has long had difficulty finding a suitable ni-Vanuatu able to draw the often fractious branches of the police together.
