Fiji's employment minister says the government was not consulted by the US State Department for its 2015 Human Trafficking Report.
The report found that Fiji is a source country for women and children subjected to sex trafficking and forced labour.
It also found Fiji to be a transit country for Asian men and women subjected to forced labour and prostitution.
But the employment minister, Jioji Konrote, told FBC that the government wasn't consulted for the report.
He says a team from his ministry has been tasked to look into the matter and refute the claims made by the United States where necessary.
