Airports Fiji Limited, which runs the country's airports, has paid the Fiji Government a dividend of $US6.9 million dollars.

The AFL chairman Faiz Khan says the payment is unprecedented.

He says by dramatically restructuring revenue streams, the company has achieved record profitability over the past three years and he is promsing more revenue growth in the years to come.

The Attorney General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, who accepted the cheque from the company, says the Government recognises AFL as an example of a successful state-owned enterprise able to stand on its own feet.
