Tuvalu MPs get training help from Pacific colleagues

8:27 am on 28 August 2015

Newly elected MPs in Tuvalu are being put through an induction seminar to help them perform their roles better.

The week-long seminar is being delivered as part of United Nations Development Programme's support to the Parliament of Tuvalu and visiting MPs from Victoria and New Zealand are sharing their experiences.

Tuvalu's Puakena Boreham, a medical doctor who won a seat in this year's election, and is the only woman in the Tuvalu legislature, says it has been an enriching, enhancing and encouraging opportunity.

The UNDP project is part of ongoing efforts to establish a cost-effective and sustainable approach to develop the capacities of parliaments in the Pacific.
