Sport: Jets expect PNG Hunters to be nervous after defeat

The Ipswich Jets expect the Papua New Guinea Hunters to be feeling the pressure going into Sunday's Queensland Cup rugby league preliminary final.

The Hunters 17-match unbeaten streak was halted last weekend away to minor premiers the Townsville Blackhawks.

Among that winning run was two victories against Ipswich but the Jets co-coach Shane Walker says it's only natural that the PNG side will be feeling somewhat nervous.

"When you've gone 17 games without losing and then all of a sudden you lose...winning can often mask some of the bad things that have crept into your game - and because you're winning they can be overlooked - and then when you lose it can be pretty tough to rectify them straight away".

The match is being played at the neutral venue of Wynnum Manly's Kougari Oval with the winner to take on Townsville next weekend in the grand final at Suncorp Stadium.
