Dr Prasad says he is looking ahead to the next election in 2018.

He says there are issues with laws around political parties, the media and electoral rules and these were highlighted by the international election observers after the polls a year ago.

"There is an opportunity for this parliament and indeed the FijiFirst government to rethink how we can move ahead with an electoral decree, with a political parties decree that removes all those concerns which have not led to a free and fair election."

Biman Prasad says many contentious issues remain one year after the election which could be addressed by a bipartisan committee or better still a government of national unity.
