Cooks top bureaucrats finally appointed

4:46 pm on 24 September 2015

After a delay of almost two months the appointments of 12 Cook Islands heads of ministries has been announced today.

Eight officials have been reappointed to their positions and four new appointments have been made to the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Cultural Development, Education and Infrastructure Cook Islands.

The delay in announcing the appointments had been due to Cabinet's unwillingness to confirm nominations made by the Public Service selection panel.

The Public Service Commissioner, Russel Thomas, says he is confident the new ministry heads are ready to deliver on key government priorities and public sector transformation, as outlined in the recently endorsed Public Service Strategy.
