The Papua New Guinea cricketers suffered back to back defeats in the South Australian Premier League at the weekend.

Lega Siaka top-scored with 41 as the Barramundi's managed just 200 runs batting first against the Northern Mavericks on Saturday, who reached their target with three wickets and 25 balls to spare.

On Sunday, the Eastern Edge piled on 331 for 9 from their 50 overs before dismissing PNG for 253.

The Barramundi's have won one match and lost three so far.

Coach Dipak Patel says their squad is a mix of old and new.

"We've brought four youngsters into the squad. We left behind four of the senior players in Willie Gavera, Kila Pala, Pipi Raho and Tony Ura, who has a shoulder injury, so we've been able to blood four players and it puts us in a good mode that we've been able to extend our squad and give them more experience".

PNG are back in action on Thursday against Northern Territory in Alice Springs.
