The countries of the Pacific Island Forum are hoping for assistance from South Korea to address illegal fishing and marine pollution at a meeting in Seoul today.

South Korea has been a Post-Forum Dialogue partner to the region since 1995 and is a major advocate for climate change mitigation efforts.

The region views the country as a significant ally for advancing its agenda on climate change at the upcoming climate change talks in Paris and it sees it as an important source of climate finance.

The Foum Secretariat says South Korea is also well placed to work with the region to ensure fisheries are sustainably developed.
