Fiji Football remains confident the result of New Zealand's appeal over their disqualification from Olympic qualifying will find in their favour.

In July, the New Zealand under-23 men's team was disqualified for fielding an ineligible player, South African-born Deklan Wynne, at the Rio Oceania Olympic qualifying tournament in Papua New Guinea.

New Zealand Football appealed and the result of that will be made public today.

Fiji beat Vanuatu in the Olympic qualifying final and Fiji Football President Rajesh Patel's feeling hopeful the decision will be in their favour.

"We know we have qualified rightfully and everything according to the rules and regulations. Yes the decision should go our way. It's gone to the disciplinary committee and they have made the decision, now it's the appeals committee and I feel it won't be overturned. That's what my feeling is but the decision has been made - I haven't got it yet - and we expect the best results from it on a positive note".
