Drug court established in CNMI

The bill that sought the establishment of a drug court to combat the impact of methamphetamine or "ice" in the Northern Marianas has been signed into law.

Acting governor Ralph Torres signed the bill into law that establishes a drug court within the Commonwealth Superior Court.

The law calls for the creation of a system to aid the rehabilitation of drug offenders through continuous court monitoring, regular testing and drug dependency treatment.

The CNMI have now joined Guam and 50 other states that have drug courts.
