Sixteen people who have been charged with sedition in Fiji have been granted bail.

Fiji Village reports the defence filed a bail application for six of the accused on medical grounds, with a medical affidavit saying they could not be treated in prison.

The Lautoka High Court also granted bail to the ten other accused as police investigations were yet to be completed.

The sixteen men are accused of trying to establish a sovereign christian state in the Nadroga and Navosa regions.
