The Director General of the Melanesian Spearhead Group Secretariat has resigned.
Peter Forau, who has held the position since 2011, tendered his resignation with the current chair of the MSG, the Solomon Islands Prime Minister, Manasseh Sogavare.
He says circumstances beyond his control intervened in his desires to keep the job.
Mr Forau, from Tikopia in the easternmost province of Solomon Islands, was previously the Deputy Secretary General of the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat.
