Bank South Pacific has been given the all clear to purchase Westpac's operations in Vanuatu.

The Reserve Bank of Vanuatu this week issued the new license, effective from July next year, completing BSP's expansion plans for the region.

BSP had earlier bought Westpac operations in Cook Islands, Samoa, Solomon Islands and Tonga.

Its chief executive Robin Fleming says the acquisition of Westpac Vanuatu was significantly delayed by the devastating Cyclone Pam in March.

He says the bank will now turn its attention to providing flexible, convenient banking solutions to the region.
