Sport: Pacific finish well down at weightlifting champs

Papua New Guinean Loa Dika Toua has finished with the best result of the Pacific contingent at the IWF World Weightlifting Championships in Houston.

Toua came 20th in the 55kg women's division with a total lift of 183kg.

Luisa Peters of the Cook Islands came 31st and Fiji's Apolonia Vaivai came 37th in their respective classes.

In the men's events Fiji's Manueli Tulo was the best performer, finishing 23rd in the 56kg division with a total lift of 240kgs.

Nauru's Itte Detenamo came 25th in the over 105kg division while Kiribati's David Katoatau finished 27th in the 105kg class with a total of 350 kgs and Morea Baru from PNG was 32nd in the 62kg class.
