Fire at CNMI's main airport restricts flights to daytime

Saipan International Airport, the Northern Marianas' main airport, is down to daytime flights after a fire knocked out lights along the airstrip's runway and taxiway.

The Commonwealth Ports Authority says the fire at the weekend ruined the electrical wiring along the runway.

As a result the CNMI hub is limited to daytime flights only.

Our correspondent says flights from Sichuan Airlines, Asiana Airlines, Jeju Air, and China Eastern Airlines, have been delayed but not cancelled.
