Fiji's Minister for Public Service, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, says recruitment is now under way for 12 positions in the new Ministry of Civil Service.

He says the new ministry will set standards in regards to hiring, evaluation, discipline and emoluments.

This comes as Fiji continues efforts to improve its public service amid reports of nepotism.

Earlier this week, Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said some public office holders did not have the qualification to hold their jobs.

He also said the post-coup regime found that in some ministries women were forced to sleep with superiors to save their jobs.
