The community in Rarotonga is reeling from the fifth fatality on the island's roads this year.
A young man died after crashing his motorbike into another vehicle on Friday evening.
Police Inspector John Strickland says the sheer number of vehicle crashes continues to be a huge concern for police as people ignore drink driving and speeding warnings.
He says the main causes of crashes are careless or inattentive driving, driving in excess of the 50 kilometres an hour speed limit, and driving or riding while under the influence of alcohol and or drugs.
He says most if not all of the recent crashes were entirely preventable and he's asked for common sense to prevail..
