Dozens of off-island dignitaries and heads of state will travel to Saipan next week to attend the funeral of the former Northern Marianas Governor, Eloy Inos.

Mr Inos died last week in a Seattle hospital, and his deputy, Ralph Torres, was then sworn in as Governor.

Among those attending the funeral is the Secretary of the United States' Insular Affairs, Esther Kia'aina, the Governor of Guam, Eddie Calvo, and the Federated States of Micronesia's vice President, Yosiwo George.

Others include the vice President of Palau, the Lieutenant Governor of Yap, and representatives from American Samoa and the US Military's Pacific command.
